The wall over the crib was a tricky one! It took a lot of careful consideration, but after much thought, I decided to go with a simple balanced gallery above Baby Girl's crib. I took inspiration from this canvas print I saw at a local store in Charleston, SC for the main focal point. I loved the sweet message and simple delivery (but wasn't sold on it due to a hefty price tag). I snapped a photo and saved it to my DIY list. |
I bought a large canvas and debated on whether to paint my Proverb of choice on it, stamp it somehow, or go for something like this. (Tutorial here.)
Adorable, right? In the end, I decided I wanted black print on a white background and went with the easy Sharpie on canvas method. I didn't even pencil the Proverb on it first. I'm a TRUE dare devil over here. Watch out people.
Here's how it came out. Definitely not as dimensional as the inspiration print above, but I like it.

I hung a few prints I selected with pink touches and a whimsical feel around the canvas. Every time I hang up a grouping of frames, it is a true test of the small amount of patience I was blessed with. I've tried a few methods to hang galleries. None are super fun. The easiest way I have found to hang a balanced grouping like this is to hang the centered piece first. Next, measure the distance you want the top frame from the ceiling and how far from the centered piece you want it, add the drop of the wire or hook on the frame and hang those second. Don't assume all the frames have the same drop from their wire or hook on the back even if you buy them together. I've made this mistake...no bueno. Finally use the top frames as a fixed point from which to hang the frames below by determining the distance you want between the top and bottom frames and adding the drop of the bottom frames.
Here it is all finished up with the crib in place. We're getting close to Baby Girl's arrival and the nursery just needs a few finishing touches! I'll be sharing the finished product soon!
